Cobot courses for ages 11 to 18 (grades 6 to 12)

For parents who want robotics engineering on a real industrial cobot. Start with the 2-hour Hexkit Cobot Competition, in separate Middle School and High School brackets. Then the Middle School track, Levels 1 to 5, or the High School Advanced track: a Bridge, then Levels 6 to 10. Each level ends with a certificate of completion that unlocks the next. A strong fit for a competitive high school robotics team, and for a student starting out.

Joining the waitlist does not charge you. We will email you when dates and details are confirmed.

Not another coding camp

Coding camps stay on laptops. HEXKIT ACADEMY puts students ages 11 to 18 (grades 6 to 12) on a real industrial cobot, practicing the teach pendant work robotics engineers use.

The same class of arm shows up in space work, in medical labs, and in the clean rooms of new US chip and GPU plants.

Real industrial 6-axis cobot

Students train on an industrial cobot, the kind used in shops, not a desktop toy kit.

Teach pendant time for every student

Every student gets hands-on time on the teach pendant. Not watching from the back of the room.

Workshop to portfolio

Students leave with a certificate of completion at each course level. That certificate unlocks the next level.

Real machines. Real skills.

Students ages 11 to 18 (grades 6 to 12) work on a real industrial cobot. The path is the Hexkit Cobot Competition, then levels, with a certificate of completion at each level. The ladder is on Courses.

Program

Learn how cobots are programmed and tasked for real workshop jobs: motion, tooling, and workflow basics.

Hands testing a motor circuit with a digital meter.

Repair and maintain

Hands-on hardware: inspect, diagnose, and care for real equipment the way a shop floor expects.

A hand pressing the stop button on an industrial control pendant.

Safety

Industrial safety habits first: guards, procedures, and respect for machines that can move force.

Build judgment

More than coding drills: students practice shop judgment used in robotics, manufacturing, and the chip plants now being built.

Quick answers

Who is HEXKIT ACADEMY for?

Cobot Courses are for ages 11 to 18 (grades 6 to 12). Students start with the 2-hour Hexkit Cobot Competition, in separate Middle School and High School brackets, then the Middle School track (Levels 1 to 5) or the High School Advanced track (Bridge, then Levels 6 to 10). Each level ends with a certificate of completion that unlocks the next. The work is robotics engineering on a real industrial cobot, including a path for a competitive high school robotics team.

Do parents need a tech background?

No. Sessions are supervised and structured. Parents get clear info when workshops open. You don’t need to be an engineer to join the waitlist for your student.

Is prior robotics or coding experience required?

No. Curiosity and willingness to work with tools matter more. We’ll meet students where they are.

Where are sessions held?

Irvine, California. Exact details are shared with families when dates are confirmed.

How much does it cost?

Cobot Courses for ages 11 to 18 (grades 6 to 12) are billed as a monthly subscription. Details coming soon. Joining the waitlist does not charge you.

How do I sign up?

Join the waitlist on this page for the Hexkit Cobot Competition. Joining the waitlist does not charge you. We will email you when dates and details are confirmed. Details: Terms.

How is this different from coding-only camps?

Students ages 11 to 18 (grades 6 to 12) work on a real 6-axis industrial cobot, with teach pendant time, not a laptop-only camp. Each course level ends with a certificate of completion that unlocks the next.

Are cobots used in chip manufacturing?

Yes. US chip and GPU plants are a new manufacturing era. Their clean rooms use cobots for a lot of the careful, repeated handling, the work a person in a full suit does slowly. HEXKIT ACADEMY does not train students for a fab and does not offer a clean-room credential. Class time is supervised time on a real cobot.

How do you keep students safe around a moving robot arm?

Safety comes before motion. Every student passes a safety gate, including the three-ways-to-stop drill, before touching the arm. The cell runs with speed and force limits, emergency stops, and marked robot envelopes. Groups stay small, and the instructor stays with them the whole time. Parents may drop off and pick up according to the schedule, or wait in the waiting area.

Do parents need to stay on site?

No. Parents can drop off and pick up their student according to the schedule. If a parent prefers to stay, they can wait in the waiting area for the whole duration.

What ages can attend?

Courses are for ages 11 to 18 (grades 6 to 12). No prior robotics or coding experience is required to start. A competitive high school robotics team is a strong fit. College students ages 18 to 22 can join the waitlist for a weekend workshop.

What should a student wear and bring?

Closed-toe shoes, hair tied back, no dangling jewelry or loose sleeves. We provide the equipment. Just bring your student.

What does a student take home?

Their own robot program files, a demo video of it running on the real arm, and a Cobot Foundations certificate of completion for their portfolio. The certificate is not an accredited credential and is not college credit.

When is a weekend confirmed?

We confirm every date 5 days before it starts. If a date doesn't fill, you choose: move to the next weekend, house credit for any upcoming course, or a full refund.

What is your refund policy?

Full refund if you cancel at least 14 days before the session; 50% or a free transfer 7-13 days out; inside 7 days tuition is non-refundable but transfers once to a later session free. If we cancel, you get a full refund. A missing signed waiver is refunded separately. Details: Refund policy.
