For you, ages 11 to 18

What's in it for you

a hands-on industrial cobot program for students ages 11 to 18 (grades 6 to 12)

A hands-on industrial cobot program for students ages 11 to 18 (grades 6 to 12). A real industrial robot arm. You on the teach pendant, not stuck in the back row watching someone else press the buttons.

Hexkit Cobot Lab, the first step

Program a real industrial robot arm. Ages 11 to 18 (grades 6 to 12). No experience needed.

Registration open at theCoderSchool Irvine.

Levels 1 to 10, afterwards

Each level ends with a certificate of completion that unlocks the next. Middle School Level 5 graduates move straight to Level 6.

Beginners

Middle School Track

Levels 1 to 5 for students with no experience needed.

  1. Level 1, Foundations. Cell safety, jogging, and a first pick and place.
  2. Level 2, Programming. Write sequences with loops and debug the program.
  3. Level 3, Applications. Run a job such as palletizing or a sensor sort.
  4. Level 4, Systems. Recover from faults and keep a cell running.
  5. Level 5, Engineer. Design a cell, solve a real task, and present it.

Prior experience

High School Advanced Track

For students with robotics team, CAD, CNC, or coding experience.

Industrial Cobot Bridge

You've built competition robots, now learn an industrial cobot. Safety, jogging and fundamentals on a real industrial arm before the advanced levels.

  1. Level 6, Industrial Scripting. Write and run scripts.
  2. Level 7, External Control and Integration. Command the robot from Python and connect it to other machines.
  3. Level 8, Perception and ROS 2. Use ROS 2 and vision to find and pick parts.
  4. Level 9, End-of-Arm Tooling and Cell Engineering. Design custom tooling and engineer the cell.
  5. Level 10, Industrial Capstone. Solve an industrial-style task and present the work.

You get the arm

Laptop camps hand you a screen. Here the work moves. You jog a 6-axis cobot, write a short program, watch that program run, and leave with the files and a video of it.

If you like music, you can program the arm to dance. You still leave with that program and a video of the arm running it, the kind of proof a robotics team asks to see.

Where this kind of arm shows up

This is an industrial cobot, the class of arm that robotics engineers program. The same kind of arm shows up around space hardware, in medical labs, and in the clean rooms of new chip and GPU plants. This weekend does not make you an astronaut, a surgeon, a fab technician, or a certified tech. You get a safety gate, then your own program on a real cell.

Later weekends can go further. This one is the first time you put your hands on the machine.

What you leave with

Bring your tech-savvy friend

Bring a friend from your robotics team, or the friend who wants a spot on one. Ask questions, share a program, and compare the video you each take home. A parent joins the waitlist.
