What is a cobot?
For parents of students ages 11 to 18 (grades 6 to 12).
A cobot is a collaborative robot. It is an industrial arm built to work near people, with limits on speed and force, instead of only inside a locked cage far from the operator. It is still a real machine. It can move a tool. It still requires a safety habit. "Collaborative" does not mean harmless, and it does not mean a toy on a desk.
Traditional industrial arms are often fenced off. A person enters the cell under a procedure, or they do not enter it. A cobot is designed so a trained person can be closer, jogging it from a teach pendant, setting up a task, and stopping it more than one way. The student still passes a safety gate before motion. HEXKIT ACADEMY runs that gate before anyone touches the industrial robot arm.
What a student actually does
Students learn the difference by using the arm. They jog it. They plan a short program. They run that program and keep the files and a demo video. They do not get a lecture about a robot in another building.
A cobot is also not a coding-camp laptop. This time teaches the cell: start, move, stop, and leave with something that ran on the hardware. That is robotics engineering practice, and it is proof a competitive robotics team can show.
Who it is for
Students ages 11 to 18 (grades 6 to 12) start at Courses. The Hexkit Cobot Competition is a 2-hour event. Every competitor gets hands-on robot time. Details coming soon.
What the word does not mean
The word does not mean a student is a cobot technician, and time on the arm is not college credit. It means a real industrial machine, used under supervision, with a safety habit still required.
Students ages 11 to 18 (grades 6 to 12) can join the Hexkit Cobot Competition waitlist. It is a 2-hour event. Every competitor gets hands-on robot time. Details coming soon.
